Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
My name is Fin, and currently I am in Year Eight. I joined Prospect School in September 2018. I am pleased to say that all my hard work in Year Seven paid off and I was awarded the Headteacher’s award by Mr Littlemore. Year Seven is very daunting, very daunting indeed, the stress of finding your classes, arriving on time and proving that you are independent, not just to your family but to your teachers, your friends, and most importantly, to yourself.
The homework and moving from classroom to classroom, was tough. However, I knew all of the hard work would be worth it. All the staff were so supportive along the way, they all encouraged me to be the best I can be. There were also trips and extra-curricular activities which aided our learning and social skills; they were always extremely fun too!
For me, I found it tough to adapt from being a student in Year Six to a student in Year Seven and from being the oldest in the school to the youngest. Nevertheless, on the first day of arriving at Prospect School I felt welcome, felt safe; I immediately knew Prospect School was a safe and fun environment for learning and socialising! The staff were so kind, caring and considerate as they should be. We had a particularly informative tour of this huge school, seeing where our classes were and just talking about the ethos and atmosphere of our wonderful school.
Ever since Mr Littlemore became Headteacher, things have changed. From a new behavioural system to a House system that promotes pride in our school. The House system can get competitive; whichever house has the most achievement points gets their flag flying high at the school entrance and we all want to see our flag billowing in the air!
Look, we all know its hard work when you change schools, it can be quite intimidating, but it is about working hard and keeping your goals in mind. Resilience is key, because there will be setbacks, but it is how you come back from these setbacks that counts and I want everyone to remember this…hard work beats talent.
Thank you very much, and I hope you all have a great evening
